Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero feels Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have the potential to be the new Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic rivalry on the Tour.

Alcaraz, 19, and 21-year-old Sinner have clashed four times on the main level so far.

In the US Open quarterfinal, they delivered an absolute thriller and classic.

After five hours and 15 minutes of play, Alcaraz defeated Sinner 6-3 6-7 (7) 6-7 (0) 7-5 6-3.

Alcaraz won after saving a match point in the fourth set and recovering from a break down in the fifth set.

"The Sinner versus Alcaraz could be the new Nadal versus Djokovic," Ferrero told El Partidazo de COPE.

Alcaraz hopes he and Sinner will live up to the expectations

The Big Three - Nadal, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal - have always pushed each other to become even better versions of themselves.

Alcaraz is hoping Sinner will have that effect on him and vice versa.

"I'm gonna push myself to be a better player, to try to beat him, and I think for him it will be the same. I will push him to be a better player as Djokovic, Rafa and Federer did when they were younger. It's going to be a great rivalry and of course, we are great friends outside of the court," Alcaraz said.

The head-to-head between the two now stands at 2-2.

For the first time this season, Alcaraz defeated Sinner.

At Wimbledon, Sinner earned a four-set win over Alcaraz.

In late July, Sinner claimed his first title of the season after beating Alcaraz in the Umag final.

After losing to Sinner at Wimbledon and Umag, Alcaraz got his revenge at the US Open.

Every match that Alcaraz and Sinner played this year featured lots of excitement so it shouldn't be surprising that the tennis community is tipping them to have the next great rivalry.

Since Alcaraz and Sinner never fail to disappoint, Masters and Grand Slams tournament will certainly be rooting to see that matchup.
