Hailey Davidson, 29, is likely to become the first transgender person to earn a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour card. Davidson showed her quality in the first two rounds and deserved to be part of the competition. She is very close to going to the 2nd stage of the qualifications, where the top 100 players are waiting. Davidson underwent hormone therapy and was also part of the men's competition. She is ready for the challenges ahead, but financial problems could be an obstacle.

'I know I have what it takes from being around professional golfers on the LPGA/PGA/Champions Tour over the recent years and staying very competitive with them all,' Davidson said in 2021, as quoted by dailymail.co.uk

'While I know that I have the talent and mental game to make a career out of playing, the initial cost of tournaments and practice expenses is what truly holds me back.'

Davidson could have expected that her change would be followed by numerous reactions. Davidson believes that the criticism is the result of hatred towards trans people. She considers such a fact sad, but she still has to fight with criticism, or else to get used to it.

'I've seen that it's not about protecting women's sports or me having an advantage, it's just that you don't like trans people,' Davidson said of her detractors while speaking on the Like It Is podcast. 

'It's very sad that that's what it comes down to. In the last couple of months, that's what I've come to learn.'   

Davidson is just one example of transgender people who want to compete. Probably the most famous example recently is Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer who competes in the women's category. Her performances caused a lot of criticism as well. Many believe that they still have genetic advantages regardless of hormone therapy.
