Roger Federer back to practicing in full swing (WATCH)

20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is ramping up preparations for his upcoming return.

On Sunday, Federer uploaded a video from practice, confirming that he is back to practicing in full swing.

Federer, 41, underwent a third knee surgery last August. 

Federer, who hasn't played since 2021 Wimbleodn, is expected to return to action in late September at the Laver Cup. 

So far, Federer has only been confirmed for two events - the Laver Cup and Basel. 

The Swiss Indoors Basel takes place in October, 24-30. 

Federer hoping to go out on his own terms

After undergoing two knee surgeries in 2020, Federer made a comeback in March 2021. 

After playing just five tournaments, Federer was forced to once again undergo a knee surgery. 

Even though Federer was 40 at the time of his third knee surgery, he refused to simply retire. 

Federer wants to go out on his own terms and some feel he may call it a career at his home tournament, Basel.

In July, Federer conducted an interview with Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. 

In the interview, Federer admitted that he doesn't really need the game anymore and that some other things make him happy at this stage of his life. 

“I love to win, but if you’re not competitive any more, then it’s better to stop. I don’t think I need the tennis. I am happy with the little things, like when my son does something right and when my daughter comes home with a good grade,” Federer said. “Tennis is part of, but not my entire identity. I want to be and remain successful, and put a lot of energy into business – probably give more than I should sometimes, but that can also be done outside of sports. I know a professional career can’t last forever and that’s okay.”
