Chris Evert feels Venus Williams is "kind of in the shadow of Serena Williams right now" and added she is curious to see if Venus will follow her younger sister and retire from professional tennis after this year's US Open.
Venus has accomplished a lot throughout her career as she is a 16-time Grand Slam finalist and a seven-time Grand Slam champion.
But Serena has 23 Grand Slams and that's why Venus' accomplishments may look little compared to her younger sister's.
Venus and Serena have always been very close but they have a different personality.
Venus is a more low-key type of person and that's why some believe she is just going to announce her retirement after finishing her US Open campaign.
Evert: Nobody is even talking about Venus Williams"I think you hit on a very important point because having a sibling, and you having a sibling, with the grace, with the way they handled competing with each other, the family came first. And the competitiveness came second when they played each other," Evert told ESPN. "Venus, nobody is even talking about Venus. I agree. It’s like, if you just set her apart from Serena and you look at her record and you look at how many Wimbledons she’s won and you look at grand slams and doubles and you look at the influence she’s had, and she’s been such a different personality than Serena. And she’s not getting a lot of attention. And, I don’t know, I think it’s just interesting to me. Are they going to both retire at the same time? Is Venus going to keep going and Serena is going to retire? I think that’s an interesting question too. What are Venus plans? She’s kind of in the shadow of Serena right now and nobody is taking stock of what her tennis plans are. But that would be interesting, too."
Both Venus and Serena received wildcards into the US Open.
Venus Williams has played three tournaments since kicking off her season in Washington.
