Among the protagonists of the tournament, in addition to the Italians, there will also be the Belgian Christopher Mivis and the French Clement Sordet, respectively third and fourth in the 'money list' of the Challenge Tour. Also present is the Danish Oliver Hundeboll (winner of the Mangaung Open in March) , Pole Mateusz Gradecki (who won the Limpopo Championship) and Swede Jens Dentorp, champion last week at the Challenge de Espana.

The event will offer a total prize pool of £ 230,000 and will be played at Newmachar Golf Club, on the Hawkshill Championship Course. The last time a Challenge Tour stop was played in Scotland was in 2018, when David Law won the SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge hosted by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.

Matteo Manassero turned pro in May 2010 and decided to make his debut at the Italian Open, finishing in the top 30. Later invited to England to play the BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth, he passed the cut and closed the tournament in 17th place.

On 24 October 2010, Manassero won the Castelló Masters in Spain, becoming the youngest winner of a European Tour tournament at 17 years, 6 months and 5 days. The record was previously held by New Zealander Danny Lee, winner of the Johnnie in February 2009. Walker Classic.

On 30 November 2010, Wentworth was awarded the title of "Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year" of the European Tour, a recognition also given in the past to Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin, Sandy Lyle, José María Olazábal and Colin Montgomerie. [4]

In April 2011, a few days after his 18th birthday, he won his second tournament on the European Tour, winning the Malaysian Open played at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

On 11 November 2012 he won the Barclays Singapore Open by overtaking South African Louis Oosthuizen [5] with an eagle on the third hole of the playoff, thus becoming the first teenager to win 3 European Tour tournaments.
