For Euan McIntosh this is the first career success on the European men's circuit reserved for over 50s, succeeding in the roll of honor the Argentine Mauricio Molina, winner in 2021. The Glasgow native is the first Scotsman to win on the Legends Tour since 2019 , the last was Paul Lawrie.

The 53-year-old, who started the final day with a three-stroke lead after a brilliant 64 on Saturday, recovered from the comeback to win the Riegler and Partners legends at Golfclub Murhof in Austria. For McIntosh, who returned to the amateur ranks and won the Scottish title at Blairgowrie in 2018, preparing for a crack in the over-50 game was mission accomplished. "I didn't play very well today," added McIntosh, who is based at Turnhouse. “In the beginning I was nervous and everything I tried didn't work. “But I was looking at the scoreboard the whole time, so I kind of knew how to get her over the line. "I think because of everything that makes it difficult, including the press, it's on your mind, I slept well last night." The Scot saved the final five holes to put his nose in front again, with play briefly suspended due to heavy rain. "I wanted to move on," he said of the delay. "But James was really unlucky because he played 15 in a downpour, so we had a big break there".
