PGA Tour golfers continue to battle in this weekend's event. In fact, we have reached the end of the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge (prize money of 8.4 million dollars), a tournament born in 1946 under the name of Colanial National Invitation.

Justin Thomas, results

After a very balanced first lap there was a clear skimming from the top of the standings. At the command of the leaderboard we find with -9 (131 strokes) an all-American trio composed of Beau Hossler, Scott Stallings, and Scottie Scheffler. The number one of the Official World Golf Rankings continues on his clear course turning at -5, again bogey free like Hossler.

On the par 70 course of the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth (Texas, United States) in fourth place alone with -8 is Patrick Reed, while with -7 in fifth position is the American couple formed by Pat Perez and Chris Kirk. Seventh place and top ten closed with a score of -6 by the Norwegian Viktor Hovland, by the Australian Cam Davis, and by the Americans Max McGreavy, David Riley, and Harold Varner III.

Scrolling through the ranking, the return of Mito Pereira is worthy of note. The Chilean, one of the protagonists of the recent PGA Championship, recovers 28 positions, climbing to 15th place with a score of -4. Instead, the protagonists of the just concluded Major playoff have been eliminated. In fact, out of the cut Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris, evidently, albeit with mixed feelings, with the head to Tusla.

In Texas, at the Charles Schwab Challenge, still an excellent performance for Scottie Scheffler who, with a partial of 65 (-5), out of a total of 131 (66 65, -9) strokes, leads the ranking together with Scott Stallings and Beau Hossler. In Fort Worth, in the PGA Tour tournament and on the Colonial Country Club course (par 70), the leaderboard speaks American.

Scheffler, world number 1 and leader of the FedEx Cup, recorded a new bogey free round, with five birdies. No mistake, therefore, in the first 36 holes played (the only one to have succeeded in this feat), due to the new phenomenon of the green which is thus redeeming the debacle arrived at the PGA Championship. And just after the PGA Championship triumph, Justin Thomas (143, +3) was eliminated, thus halting the streak of 21 consecutive cuts passed on the PGA Tour.

Short ranking in Fort Worth, where Patrick Reed is fourth with 132 (-8) ahead of Pat Perez and Chris Kirk, both fifth with 133 (-7). In the Top 10, seventh with 134 (-6), there is also the Norwegian Viktor Hovland, world number 7. While he is 12 / o with 135 (-5), the Texan Jordan Spieth, runner up in 2021. Jason Kokrak is late. Outgoing champion, the American is only 51 / o with 140 (par).
