Daria Kasatkina hoping everything falls into place for her at French Open

Russian tennis star Daria Kasatkina, 25, noted that several things have to fall into place in order to win a Grand Slam and added she is hoping this year's French Open ends with a memorable result for her. 

On Saturday, 20th-ranked Kasatkina saw off American Shelby Rogers 6-3 6-2 to progress into the French Open last-16.

Kasatkina has been through to the French Open last-16 for the second time in her career and she is aiming to reach just her third Grand Slam quarterfinal. 

Kasatkina will have a great chance to reach her first French Open quarterfinal as she plays Camila Giorgi next. 

In 2018, Kasatkina reached the French Open last-16 before losing to Sloane Stephens. 

Kasatkina is a two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist and she is hoping to potentially make a splash at the French Open this year.

“You can be prepared really well for the tournament and you can lose 1st round because of the bad draw or bad match or something. So the stars have to be in one spot to achieve a good result sometimes and I want the stars to be in the spot for the next couple of days," Kasatkina told WTA insider.

Kasatkina saw off Rogers

Kasatkina made a fast start to the match, claiming the first break in the opening game of the match. 

It didn't take long for Kasatkina to earn her second break as she broke Rogers in the fifth game to open a comfortable 4-1 lead.

At 5-2 in the first set, Kasatkina missed out on three set points on her serve as Rogers got one break back. 

Failing to serve out for the first set didn't impact Kasatkina, who earned her third break of the match in the ninth game to seal the opener.

After winning the first set, Kasatkina started the second set with a 3-0 lead.

In the eighth game, when Rogers was serving to stay in the match, Kasatkina earned her fifth break of the match and completed a straight-set win.
