Former French Open doubles semifinalist Fernando Meligeni revealed Rafael Nadal would be the Big Three member he would choose to play for his life if he needed to make a choice.

This week, Meligeni asked his Twitter followers who would they pick if they were asked to pick one Big Three member to play for their life.

47.2 percent of Meligeni's Twitter followers voted for Nadal - 27.4 percent for Roger Federer - 25.4 percent for Novak Djokovic.

After the voting was finished, Meligeni revealed Nadal would be his pick.

Meligeni enjoyed a successful doubles career as he was a French Open semifinalist in 1999 and he was once ranked at No. 7 on the doubles rankings list.

Also, Meligeni explained why he would select Nadal.

"You asked and I will answer. In that case my choice would be Nadal. He would leave his life for the cause, he would come out all covered in clay, with the attitude of a warrior. Leaving everything you have. And that would be what would make me calm," Meligeni wrote in a tweet.

Nadal set to return to action

After being sidelined for the past a month and a half, Nadal is set to return to action at the Madrid Masters.

During the Indian Wells Masters semifinal, Nadal sustained a rib fracture in one of his ribs.

The injury forced Nadal to miss the start of the clay season as he wasn't able to compete in Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

Two weeks ago, Nadal returned to the practice court.

Last week, Toni Nadal confirmed his nephew was aiming to return in Madrid.

This week, Nadal tweeted that he indeed plans to return in Madrid.

"Despite only just arriving with preparation and it being difficult, I really want to play and play at home since the opportunities are few," Nadal tweeted this week. "I will try to do it in the best possible way. See you in Madrid.”

Nadal hasn't made it all the way in Madrid since 2017.
