Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev revealed he hasn't spoken with Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic but still he expects them to compete at Wimbledon because they are gunning for the all-time Grand Slam record.

Last week, the ATP announced the removal of ranking points from 2022 Wimbledon.

Several players have openly stated their displeasure with the ATP decision as some are going as far as to describe the current Wimbledon to an exhibition.

There is a growing fear that top players might decide to skip Wimbledon but Rublev expects Djokovic and Nadal to play.

"I don't know [if top players will be skipping Wimbledon] because I haven't talked with any players about it. I guess, for sure, they will play, because the top players, especially Nadal and Djokovic, they are not playing now for points or for money," Rublev said, per Sportskeeda. "They are playing to be the first in history to achieve [the most number] of Slams."

Rublev on the greatness of the Big Three

Rublev thinks Nadal, Djokovic and Roger Federer are the ones that deserve the most credit for tennis being where it is today.

The popularity of the game has increased over the last two decades and Rublev says the Big Three are responsible for that.

"Like this, tennis will grow, grow, grow a lot, because now all the success of tennis is only because of these three players, because of [Federer], [Nadal], and [Djokovic]. They did all the promotion that now tennis has arrived at its best years," Rublev said. "Like live streaming, about prize money that people start to follow more and more in tennis, it's only because of these three players. It should be the opposite also. Tennis should also promote these players. Normally it's teamwork, in my opinion."

Last month, Rublev called out Wimbledon for their decision and accused them of being "totally discriminatory" against the Russians.
