Ana Konjuh's bad luck continues: Undergoes surgery after injury in practice

Croatian tennis player Ana Konjuh sustained an unfortunate injury and was forced to undergo a surgery to repair her fractured fibula. 

On Tuesday, Konjuh took to Twitter to reveal that she had undergone a surgery after falling and fracturing her tibula. 

After four elbow surgeries, Konjih sustained a leg injury.

Konjuh was drawn to meet Simona Halep in the French Open first round but she fell during a practice session and sustained an unfortunate injury.

85th-ranked Konjuh played in Strasbourg last week, where she was beaten in the first round by Oceane Dodin. 

The surgery went well but Konjuh doesn't have a clear timetable on her return. 

"Hey guys, So unfortunately I had to withdraw from @rolandgarros since I had a fall and fractured my fibula. Surgery is done and it all went well. Not sure how long the rehab will be but hopefully I’ll be back as soon as possible. Thanks for all your messages and support," Konjuh announced on Twitter.

Konjuh delays her sixth French Open appearance

Konjuh, who made her French Open debut in 2015, was expected to make her sixth French Open appearance this year. 

Unfortunately, Konjuh suffered an unfortunate injury and will have to wait at least one more year before she makes her sixth appearance on the clay courts of Roland Garros.

Konjuh reached the second round in each of her first three French Open appearances, while she suffered first round defeats at the tournament in 2018 and 2021. 

Konjuh, 24, achieved a career-high ranking of No. 20 in 2017. 

Unfortunately for Konjuh, she started experiencing injury problems and her development took a hit. 

Konjuh started this season by reaching back-to-back quarterfinals at two WTA events in Australia but since then hasn't had any notable results. 

It hasn't been an easy season for Konjuh, whose season has been marked so far by early exits. 

Konjuh, who is no stranger to injury woes and setbacks, is now skipping the French Open and there is no guarantee she will be ready for Wimbledon. 

It remains to be seen when will Konjuh be able to return.
