Former world No. 1 Tracy Austin advised Emma Raducanu not to listen too much about what others have to say because she is living the life many can only dream about and there are many people out there who are jealous when they see someone enjoying success at such a young age.

Raducanu, 19, became one of the biggest names of the game after becoming the first qualifier in tennis history to win a Grand Slam.

Following her astonishing US Open victory, Raducanu landed multiple endorsement and sponsorship deals.

"There's going to be haters everywhere," Austin told Reuters.

"She's beautiful. She speaks well. She's bright. She's athletic. She's won a major. She's a multi-millionaire. And the problem with that is that most people are going to be jealous. Jealousy with a capital 'J' is evil, so back away from that if you can."

Austin to Raducanu: Listen only to those close to you

"I'm sure they're intrigued about what people are saying, but stick to your values and keep people around you that have your best interests at heart," Austin added.

"I would say to stay off social media as much as possible. Maybe you need it for sponsors so put your stuff out but don't necessarily take stuff in."

Raducanu has been struggling with her game this season and some blamed the endorsement deals for her poor results.

In a recent interview, Raducanu strongly defended herself against those who claim she's not fully committed and dedicated to the game.

"Maybe you just see, on the news or on social media, me signing this or that deal and I feel like it’s quite misleading because I’m doing five, six hours a day (of training), I’m at the club for 12 hours a day," Raducanu said.

"But I throw out one post in the car on the way to practice and all of a sudden it’s ‘I don’t focus on tennis’. I think that it is unfair but it’s something I have learned to deal with and become a bit more insensitive to the outside noise."
