Julie Bertin opens on relationship with Benoit Paire

Julie Bertin says Benoit Paire might look angry all the time on the court but off the court she insists her boyfriend is a "sweetheart."

Also, Bertin described Paire as a funny, but also a stubborn person.  

"We are a lot alike. But he is still much calmer than me. When you see him on the court he looks a little pissed off all the time, but in everyday life he's a sweetheart. He's someone who makes me laugh a lot, who has a lot of character and that's why it works too," Bertin told V DBUZZ, as revealed on We Love Tennis.

“I would say he is stubborn. When he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to. You can do whatever you want, he's stubborn."

A difficult year for Paire 

Paire hasn't had a great season as he has a 2-9 record on the ATP Tour this year. 

Paire's last win on the main level came in January, when he stunned Grigor Dimitrov in the Australian Open second round. 

Since then, Paire has lost his seven matches on the main level. 

Paire was on a seven-match losing streak, before entering the Phoenix Challenger last month. 

In Phoenix, Paire defeated Emilio Nava in the first round before losing to Radu Albot in his following match. 

After Phoenix, Paire went to Miami, where he was beaten by Henri Laaksonen in the first round. 

The most disappointing loss Paire suffered came in Indian Wells, where he suffered a stunning collapse in the first round. 

Paire had a 6-2 5-2 lead over Dominik Koepfer but the German recovered to beat the Frenchman 2-6 7-5 6-4.

"I'm leading 6-2, 5-2 and the only thing I think about is that I can lose. I just have a mental problem. It's hard to accept. This spiral is hard to break," Paire told L'Equipe.

Paire was scheduled to play in Marrakech this week but he pulled out of the event.
