American tennis star Reilly Opelka has announced he will be donating $100 for every ace he hits during the Miami Masters.
All the proceedings will go to Wings For Life, a non-profit spinal cord research foundation.
While announcing the donation, Opelka called on Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas to join him in his action.
“Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be donating $100 for every ace I hit during the Miami Open. I will be donating to Wings For Life, which is a spinal cord research non-profit charity. I’m going to be calling on my friends Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas to be doing the same. We will be giving a $100 dollar for every ace hit," said Opelka on Instagram.
Opelka set for a third Miami appearanceOpelka, ranked at No. 18 in the world, is hoping to make his first big Miami run this year.
Opelka, who won two qualifying matches to earn a Miami main draw place in 2019, made the third round in his tournament debut.
Last year, Opelka was beaten by Alexei Popyrin in the Miami second round.
Opelka is a much better player than he was when he last played in Miami.
Opelka last played at the Indian Wells Masters, where he made the round-of-16 before losing to Rafael Nadal.
After claiming a 7-6 (3) 7-6 (5) win over Opelka, Nadal spoke highly of the American.
“He is one of the toughest opponents on Tour,” Nadal said in his on-court interview. “It is very tough to control his weapons with his serve and forehand. I think I played my best match of the tournament so far today. I am very pleased with how I was able to win the match, with two difficult tie-breaks. This victory means a lot to me.”
It remains to be seen how far can Opelka go in Miami.
