Iga Swiatek is ranked at No. 2 on the WTA rankings but admits she still finds it "amazing" every time she gets a chance to speak with record 21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.
Swiatek has been speaking with Nadal occasionally this season as she has been trying to take as much as she can from the former world No. 1.
However, she is not ready to declare them relationship as "friendship."
"I don't know if it's a friendship honestly, because still like being able to talk to him, is an amazing experience for me," Swiatek said. "It's a dream come true for sure."
Swiatek draws inspiration from NadalNadal is ultra competitive and he never stops believing in himself and his ability.
The belief and confidence Nadal has in his game has played a major part in him becoming a record 21-time Grand Slam champion.
Swiatek admitted she wants to have Nadal's level of belief and to never give up, no matter how tough it gets.
"He's a huge inspiration, especially his Australian Open final that I watched on the stands, it was unbelievable," she said. "And he's a guy that never gives up and I would want to have the same amount of belief in myself. And also keep pushing no matter what.
Swiatek failed to win the Australian Open after losing to Danielle Collins in the semifinal.
A few days later, Swiatek was at Rod Laver Arena, watching the Nadal and Daniil Medvedev final.
It was a historic final as Nadal recovered from two sets down to beat Medvedev and win a record 21st Grand Slam title.
"So I think he's a role model for many people you know, but for me, I'm just his huge fan," Swiatek added.
Meanwhile, Swiatek is enjoying a fine form, having won back-to-back titles in Doha and Indian Wells.
Swiatek is now focused on winning her first Miami Masters title.
