World No. 13 Emma Raducanu felt she played some good tennis during her Miami Masters second round clash as she admitted it felt bad to end on the losing side.
Raducanu, seeded at No. 11, missed out on a good chance to reach the Miami third round as world No. 53 Katerina Siniakova recovered to win in three sets 3-6 6-4 7-5.
“I mean, it was a long match,” Raducanu said in her post-match press conference, per Tennis Majors. “Very long rallies. I thought that she played really good. There was some good tennis on both sides, to be honest, but yeah, obviously it sucks to lose that one.”
Raducanu failed to serve out for the matchRaducanu missed out on seven break points in the second game of the first set but pressing Siniakova's serve as she earned the first break of the match in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead in the first set.
Raducanu missed out on two break points in the sixth game, which would have given her a double-break lead.
After saving two break points in the sixth game, Siniakova broke back Raducanu in the seventh game.
Just when it semed that Siniakova was back into the first set, she dropped her serve again in the eighth game and Raducanu served out for the first set in the ninth game.
Raducanu then made a positive start to the second set, having taken an early 2-0 lead.
However, Siniakova refused to quit when she went down by a set and a break as she broke Raducanu in the fourth and 10th games to overturn the deficit and force a decider.
Raducanu failed to close out the match in straight sets but she led 5-3 in the third set and had a chance to escape with a three-set lead.
Raducanu suffered a stunning collapse after taking a 5-3 lead as Siniakova finished the match with back-to-back breaks to steal the win from the 2021 US Open champion.
