World No. 3 Alexander Zverev has hinted that he plans to play at the Laver Cup in London next year.
Zverev, 24, beat John Isner in his lone singles match played at the Laver Cup this week.
Team Europe dominated Team World, winning by a 14-1 score.
Team Europe also consisted of Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini and Casper Ruud.
"In general, it was a great week. I think everybody enjoyed it. We are all looking forward to London next year. We have the past three champions there on this team in London. I think Stef, Daniil and myself are very much looking forward to playing in that stadium, very much looking forward to hopefully representing Europe again there. I think it's going to be a great time, I think everybody is going to have fun. A lot of this team will be there again," Zverev said.
Zverev suggested he expected a close battle"I think it’s not only the format but the team atmosphere that we’re having. The three previous years it was always very close, very tight. I won the last two matches of the last two years, so it’s always very close,” said Zverev during his pre-Laver interview. “Obviously, as Thomas [Enqvist] said, I shared my experiences with the guys who is the first time for them here."
After Zverev and Berrettini lost a doubles match to John Isner and Denis Shapovalov, Shapovalov said Team World were mtohvated by Zverev's trash talk.
Zverev said that win would be Team World's lone win and the German ended up being right.
"If we weren't motivated before... Apparatently Sascha Zverev was saying that's the last point we were going to get. We are definitely super hungry to come back and try to win every single match and we are going to fight for every single point tommorow," Shapovalov said.
