Belgian tennis star David Goffin has been confirmed for an ATP 250 event in Lyon, the tournament announced through Twitter on Friday.
Goffin, ranked at No. 12 in the world, is set to make his debut on the clay courts of Lyon as he has no previous appearances at the tournaments.
Lyon takes place from May 17-23 and Goffin will use it as his last preparation for the French Open.
Goffin kicked off his clay season last week at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he made the quarterfinal before losing to Great Britain's Dan Evans.
Goffin joins Gael MonfilsEarlier this week, the Lyon organizers announced that French tennis star Monfils would be participating at the tournament this year.
Monfils played at the Lyon event in 2018, when he suffered a shock first round loss to Maximilian Marterer.
Monfils had been scheduled to kick off his clay season last week in Monte Carlo but he pulled out from the Monte Carlo Masters at the last moment due to an injury.
"Sadly I'm forced to withdraw from the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters," Monfils announced on his social media. "I have been feeling some pain at the bottom of my calf for the last ten days and it got worse yesterday during my last practice. On the advice of the medical staff, I took an ultrasound which has confirmed the extent of the injury. Therefore I'm forced to postpone my return to play. However I remain positive and optimistic for the rest of the season. I will start specific treatment from today in the hope to return to play as soon as possible. Thanks you for your support, Gael."
Before Goffin and Monfils, the Lyon organizers announced that top-ranked Argentine Diego Schwartzman would be playing at the tournament.
Schwartzman, ranked at No. 9 in the world, is also set for a debut in Lyon.
