Earlier today, WWE announced The IIconics would be challenging for the women’s tag team titles at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) on June 14 from Orlando.

Just hours later, Monday Night Raw kicked off with a match featuring those same IIconics being pinned by the team of Asuka & Charlotte Flair, who are not in the tag title match and, in fact, are not even a team. In fact, they’ll be wrestling in a singles match later in the evening, likely leading to a separate title match.

Announcing a team for a title match and then immediately beating that team on television is so very, very WWE.
