World No. 79 Gianluca Mager claims he wasn't bothered by the comments Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios made earlier this year during the Rio Open.

Mager, who entered the Rio Open as a qualifier and ranked around No. 130 in the world at the time, made his maiden ATP final after beating Attila Balasz in the semifinal.

At the time, the Rio Open Twitter account posted: "Gianluca Mager is in the final of a 500-point tournament, and he's in tears on his chair."

In a response to the tweet, one user wrote: "I'm in tears realizing that Gianluca Mager will be No. 77 in the world tomorrow. Ahead of (Pierre-Hugues) Herbert, (France's) Tiafoe, (Vasek Pospisil, (Alexei) Popyrin, and too many others to name."

"Too many other names that never reached a 500 final?" was another Twitter user's response to the tweet above.

Kyrgios, who saw the tweets, responded: "How many wins on hard court and grass court has he (Mager) had?"

"I read what he said. From my understanding, he doesn't like clay and he wondered why there are so many clay tournaments in South America," Mager told SuperTennis TV, as revealed on LiveTennis.

"I don't know him (Kyrgios), I have never talked to him: we have met two or three times at the Grand Slams, he is an incredible talent."

Mager eventually fell just short of winning his maiden ATP title as he was beaten in the Rio Open final by Cristian Garin.

During his interview, Mager said he expected Wimbledon to get cancelled and that the health of players comes at first place.
