Tomorrow’s Raw tag team championship match between the new champions the Street Profits and former champions Seth Rollins & Murphy is the third time they will be running this match in 10 days.

That’s not an exaggeration. It happened first at SuperShow Down on Feb. 27. That time around, the defending champs successfully retained against the Profits. There was no interference by the AOP in that one. It was a pretty clean finish.

Then four days later on the Mar. 2 Raw, the Profits got a rematch with the stipulation that if they didn’t win this time, they wouldn’t be able to challenge for the titles again. (The match and the stip were pretty out of nowhere with no real explanation for either.) Unlike the last match, it had outside interference that influenced the finish. AOP tried to get involved, which led to Kevin Owens’ delivering a Stunner to Seth Rollins when the referee was dealing AOP. This led to the Street Profits winning the tag team titles.

Tomorrow, Mar. 7, we do it one more time. Will it be more like the first one, minimizing the interference and focusing more on the in-ring action? Or will it be heavily booked with run-ins and interferences? We’ll soon find out.

Either way, three times in 10 days is running any match way too often. Despite the talent of all these men, there’s only so much they can do to make this match feel fresh. It’s a symptom of lazy booking coupled with running two pay-per-view like events within a two week span. It forces them to eschew creative storytelling to throw a match together quick enough to have some matches on the second show. That’s what this is

This match will be good because all these men are very good performers. But it’ll be tough to figure out something different to do since they locked up twice already in the last 10 days.
