In an interview with El Pais, the Spanish legend Manolo Orantes spoke about the new Davis Cup format and the chances that Spain can have to win the title. Orantes said: "We have Nadal, who for me is the best player ever, and then we have four or five being very good. Bautista Agut is a top ten guy and Carreno Busta was too, and Feliciano López is a great doubles player. There is Nadal but the other guys can win points too."
On the job done by the Federation, Orantes added: "They are trying not to have a big void when Nadal leaves. People are used to the successes and you need to have a fair tradition. A new structure is being built, investing in many tournaments so that the younger players have more chances to grow and compete. It's the best way to improve. We have to give younger guys the chance to grow and getting professional because that's the only way to make it keep working."
Meanwhile, Boris Becker spoke about Andy Murray's chances in 2020: "I have high hopes for Andy, I really do. I was very happy for him to win in Antwerp last month. He now talks about being healthy and that he wants to play the best players as much as he can again. I am sure he will have watched this tournament up close. He won't say it but at the back of his mind he will be dreaming about competing at the O2 [in the ATP Finals] next year, I am sure."
