The premiere was missed by almost everyone, but the second episode of WWE Backstage - which featured the surprise return of CM Punk in the closing minute - managed to double its audience.
Everyone was wondering how FS1’s studio show would do with a week to promoted Punk, and the promise of WWE’s prodigal Superstar shooting on the company’s current product. And the answer is... pretty good! At least compared to previous weeks, and for a show at 11 p.m. Eastern on a Tuesday.
WWE Backstage cracked the top 150 cable originals for the first time on Tues., Nov. 19. Viewership was up 80% to 180,000, according to Showbuzz Daily’s numbers. It scored a .10 rating among 18 - 49 year olds, which put it in a pack of shows tied for 101st place on the night.
How will it do next week? We really enjoyed what Punk brought to the show, but did most of the people who tuned in?
We shall see.
