Tommy Haas: Novak Djokovic is controlling things now

Former world No. 2 Tommy Haas says world No. 1 Novak Djokovic is controlling the things now but adds that the Serb hasn’t yet had a real test at the French Open. 

The top-seeded Serb has been brilliant so far at the French Open as he clinched four straight-set wins over Hubert Hurkacz, Henri Laaksonen, Salvatore Caruso and Jan-Lennard Struff respectively to set up a big quarterfinal clash against No. 5 seed Alexander Zverev. 

The 32-year-old is bidding to win a Calendar Grand Slam as he won it all Wimbledon and the US Open last year before making it all the way at the Australian Open this year. 

“Absolutely, Djokovic is now controlling the things. He has won three Slams in a row and now he wants a fourth. He has already achieved that in 2015/2016 and it’s unbelievable how he has been playing since last year’s Wimbledon. I have seen his matches in Paris — he hasn’t had a real test so far — but neither did Rafa and Roger,” Haas said, per Sport Klub. 

It remains to be seen can Djokovic, the 2016 French Open champion, win his second title on the clay of Roland Garros.
