Winning a maiden ATP title felt a bit of surreal for rising American star Taylor Fritz, who beat fellow compatriot Sam Querrey in the Eastbourne final 6-3 6-4.
The 21-year-old made a great start to the match, having won the opening three games of the match as he broke 2017 Wimbledon semifinalist Querrey in the second game before saving a break point in the following game.
Fritz then held on to his serve to win the first set, before he also made a good start to the second set as he won the opening two games of the set.
The 21-year-old failed to convert a break point in the third game but it didn't affect the outcome of the match as he didn't give a single break point chance to Querrey in the rest of the match..
Previously, Fritz fell just short of winning his maiden title in February 2016 as he ended runner-up in the Memphis final to Japanese Kei Nishikori.
"It's so amazing. I almost can't even believe it. I'm still trying to take it in," Fritz said post-match, per the ATP website. "I've wanted to win a Tour title ever since I made the final of one when I was 18. It feels like I've just been waiting so long. I'm so happy."
