Speaking on Eurosport, Mats Wilander commented on the French Open semi-final match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The Swede was asked if seeing the Swiss reaching the semifinals for the first time in seven years in Paris was surprising. "It (would have been) a surprise before the tournament started, if you had told me that he would have made the semis. But when you watch him play, it's not a surprise at all," said Wilander. "He has clearly been better than his opponents. He is not playing different than he did in the last 13 years. On the backhand he made some changes, his backhand is better and his racket is bigger but it's the same intensity and movement. Hopefully he tries going to the net in the beginning. He needs to do it in the start. That's why Roger is still efficient. He makes his opponents play worse. He is destroying his opponents' rhythm and I think a very few players are able to do that on Tour. Very few players are humble enough to say, I can beat him unless I make him worse. Federer has perfected that in his career," said Wilander.

On Amanda Anisimova, she added: "I am amazed at everything happened. We are seeing somebody really talented and solid on and off the court. We are seeing someone who will win multiple Major titles. It's early at 17 but if you are a great ball striker, you can compete with the best. Halep comes in having many options. She can play the way she normally plays. I think she can be more aggressive. That's what I would tell her if I were her coach."

Anisimova defeated Simona Halep in straight sets to reach the French Open semi-finals. She won 6-2, 6-4 against the defending champion.
