In a recent interview, the 1987 Wimbledon champion Pat Cash commented on Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic dominance. The Australian former player drew the differences between his era and the current one: “We were happy to win one. Now, if you win one, you’re a loser. It’s absolutely mind-boggling to see the standard of tennis that these guys are playing at this age. And motivation. That’s the thing: motivation. Once I won a Grand Slam, I was (thinking): ‘That’s enough. I’ll go hang out with my family.’ They’re motivated to keep going."

Kevin Anderson added: “If you start looking at the stats, it’s really unbelievable.”

In a column for Forbes, John Isner commented on the big expenses that a tennis player needs to face. The South African player wrote: "I need to look for a place to stay for me, my family and my team. In addition to me, 256 men and women are looking for houses in the same neighbourhood in the same weeks, and that’s just the singles players—add to that list the tourists, television and media crews, and the entire tennis industry. For Wimbledon this year, I found a nice home a short walk from the All-England Club for around £30,000 for the duration of the tournament. The prize money for the first round at Wimbledon is £45,000, which weighed against flights, salaries and expenses for my team would make the tournament a money-losing event for me."
