In an interview to L'Equipe the Serena Williams' coach Patrick Mouratoglou commented spoke highly of Novak Djokovic in comparison to Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. The Frenchman said: "For me he is the strongest out of the three, because when the three are at their best, Djokovic wins the most, and on all surfaces. He is totally out of the ordinary. When Nadal and Federer dominated all the time, they said that winning a Major was impossible. And then at 19 years of age he said: "I want to beat them. And he did it, dominating his opponents."

The men's singles semifinals will be played on Friday both on the Philippe Chatrier Stadium. Nadal and Federer will open the schedule on the Philippe Chatrier at 1:00 PM, followed by Novak Djokovic against Dominic Thiem. In a press conference the Tournament Director Guy Forget explained the reasons behind this choice. "We have the match with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, which is the one that a lot of people are waiting for. You are always afraid that some players may think it's a lack of respect or we have diminished it (by moving the women’s semi-final). But we want to see players in the best possible condition and if we have to make the tough call to move players to a smaller court, it's a possibility."

The women's semifinals will instead be played on the Suzanne Lenglen: "There are matches on the WTA Tour that are played on central courts with 5000 seats. So if it were the case, there is nothing negative in playing on this court, which is very beautiful", concluded Forget.
