Former 17-time Grand Slam doubles champion Mark Woodforde believes world No. 1 Novak Djokovic has a shot at becoming the greatest tennis player ever as he also thinks Swiss Roger Federer's record of 20 Grand Slam titles will be surpassed.
At the moment, many consider 37-year-old Federer as the greatest ever as the Swiss is a record 20-time Grand Slam champion and has spent the most weeks on the No. 1 spot.
However, many also believe that 15-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic and 17-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal also have a shot at becoming the greatest player ever.
All three -- Djokovic, Nadal, Federer -- are still alive at the French Open as the Serb is bidding to complete his second Calendar Grand Slam, while the Spaniard is targeting his 12th Roland Garros title.
"If we are looking at the exact number of Slams, Novak has a chance to break Federer's record and I believe those Roger's 20 will be surpassed, to say it that way. We can't overlook the specific value of winning Grand Slams titles in a row. That's a gigantic achievement and he (Djokovic) is close to achieving it twice," Woodforde exclusively told Sasa Ozmo of Sport Klub.
Djokovic leads the head-to-head record over Federer 25-22, while he owns a 28-26 record against Nadal.
Woodforde acknowledged that he is trying not to only look only at the number of Grand Slam titles as he added: "The head-to-head record also needs to be taken into account and judging by the current form, Novak has the edge."
