French tennis star Richard Gasquet has withdrawn from next week's ATP event in Eastbourne.

The 33-year-old has played three times so far in his career on the grass of Eastbourne.

In his last Eastbourne appearance, the 33-year-old made the semifinal before losing to fellow compatriot Gael Monfils.

Gasquet, ranked at No. 54 in the world, has played two tournaments so far this grass season.

The Frenchman made the 's-Hertogenbosch semifinal last week before he picked up a round-of-16 exit in Halle this week respectively.

Meanwhile, a place in the Eastbourne main draw has opened for American Sam Querrey following the withdrawal of Gasquet.

The 31-year-old is set to make his fifth main draw appearance in Eastbourne.

The American's best result in Eastbourne came in 2014, when he made the semifinal before losing to Lopez.
